Current Trends In Stroke Care

Robin Jones, MSN, RN, CNRN, is the Stroke Coordinator for Mission Health.  This In-Service will be designed to review the updated standards and system of care in the Western Region of NC.  RACE score, Stroke Transport Destination Plan and Expanded Window of Treatment will be reviewed.

Candidates must be currently credentialed as an EMT, AEMT or Paramedic with 3 years of experience in the related field.  This course will have most content and coursework online with classroom dates scheduled for presentations.  If you are interested contact McDowell Technical Community College.

12 Lead EKG 

August 19, 2019

5:30-9:30 PM

This course, led by Captain Marvin Hancock, will build on existing knowledge of 12 and 15 lead procedures, interpretations and diagnoses.  Discussions about STEMI recognition, documentation and Quality Management will be reviewed. 

Mental Health First Aid

Caleb L. Pusey, MDiv, MA, LPC, NCC, is the director of Care Net Counseling in Marion, NC.  He has five years of counseling experience in a variety of needs that include: anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, grief and loss and persistent mental illness.  This course will provide in-depth review of the skills needed to respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorder.

Multiple course offerings will be scheduled in the month of April for staff to update these certifications.  Dates will be announced and will coordinate around those working 24/48 hour shifts.  

Trauma Case Review

Monday June 17, 2019 

5:30 PM-9:30 PM

Trauma Services from Mission Health will be conducting case reviews of trauma patients cared for in McDowell County.  Trauma Transport Destination Plan and trending standards of care for trauma patients will be reviewed.
